Atelier visit – Alan Mirkovich (London)

Most of us use smartphones every day, and many of us connect to Instagram, but can you ever imagine a smartphone making a huge professional change to one’s life? The story of the Russian new media artist Alan Mirkovich began less than a year ago, when he published on social networks his first ‘photo-painting’ made on his iPhone. Now he has an office in London dedicated to the task of marketing and distributing his work which now sells all over the world. Alan believes his creations not only delight the eye, but also empower the spirit. This claim is validated by therapists and philosophers who love his work. Be inspired!

Design Thinking @ OCBC

Many people think design only relates to things that you can see and touch… but this is far from true… and this next story sets the record straight. Design is about making people’s lives better… and as we will see, a regional banking powerhouse headquartered in Singapore treats this matter very seriously.
OCBC is obsessed with constantly improving the customer experience and has a design team specifically tasked with this duty. Led by a trained architect, OCBC’s design lab applies what he calls design thinking… you will be amazed by the effort that goes into this!

Singapore Contemporary 2016

The Singapore Contemporary Art Show premiered in Singapore during Art Week 2016. The show positions itself as an addition to the much growing mid-tier art market with artworks ranging from S$10,000 to S$100,000 and up.

Singapore Contemporary focuses on enabling interaction between the artists and the visitors, including live artists’ performances, of which we were able to catch those by Jeff Murray, Simon Wee and Madeleine Ekeblad.‎

As far as we could see, visitors were quite satisfied with what Singapore Contemporary brought to us for the first time this year. Have a look!

Artist meeting – Ngiap Heng Tan (Singapore)

Interesting story about Ngiap Heng Tan is that he wasn’t supposed to be a photographer. He holds an electronic engineering degree and a doctorate, not to mention he undertook certificate in dancing and performing arts. As time goes by, he found passion in photography and he finally debuted an exhibition called ‘Fade’ that was inspired by his Father who suffered from a stroke, at M1 Singapore Fringe Festival. In this exhibition, visitors can easily bring home the hung iPhone photographs as a meditation on how we lose our memories as we age.
